A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so that they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build workers’ quarters (man camp), supervise the assembly of excavation machinery, and drill the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also, in part, fixers, troubleshooters, and facilitators. Referenced in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). So far the show is good, very good, one feeling I can’t shake is the daughter. In the show they say the daughter is 17, then proceed to sexualize her in an extreme way! Shower scene, talking about sex with her father, showing her ass! All these scenes have nothing to do with the plot and make for uncomfortable viewing. I understand what they are doing with the character, a daughter going down the wrong path and her father is going to set her on the right path. It could have easily been avoided by just saying she was 18, you can be 18 and still be in high school! I wish they would rewrite her bylaws and I have no idea how that got past the editors.
