Claire Beauchamp Randall, a nurse during World War II, is mysteriously transported back in time to Scotland in 1743. There she meets a dashing mountaineer warrior and finds herself embroiled in an epic uprising. Moore (the series’ developer), his team decided to preserve the Gaelic words rather than translate them into English. This supported the first-person narrative, showing Claire’s inability to understand Gaelic.
The idea was suggested by producer David Brown, who said he had seen something similar in Skin Deep (1998), a foreign alternative film starring actor and singer Gustavo Goulart. In several episodes, the characters say “OK”, an American term that was not used until the 19th century. In the first half of season 2 (which takes place in France), some of the text is in French. In the second half of season 2 (which is mostly devoted to preparing for war), a bellicose drum beat is added to the opening theme.
Season 3 adds tribal drums, since most of the season takes place in the West Indies. Season 4 adds bluegrass fiddle and banjo, and some of the lyrics are sung in a southern accent, since the season is mostly set in America. I discovered this show late and managed to binge-watch through season 7 in a month.
The first two seasons feel like a completely different show, they keep me on the edge of my seat and hungry for another show. I know a lot of people don’t like Richard, but damn, I love him as Roger, he just brings realism to the character for me. Sophie seems like an acting student trying too hard to play a spoiled brat. Her walls are painful to look at, and there’s no chemistry between her and Richard, and who the hell was that horrible accent?

See writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV shows on IMDb, ranked by user ratings.. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will serve as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. It is usually the landowner’s job to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the companies they represent.
In essence, they manage the land and secure the lease so they can drill for oil and gas. Like foremen on a construction site, they build roads, set up camps, assemble excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also troubleshooters, problem solvers, and leaders.
Who wrote the characters for the daughter and the mother/wife? No 17 year old girl talks to her father like that. It’s extremely creepy and uncomfortable.
Not only does she not act like a teenager around her father, but she also seems 10 years too old to be 17. The mother/wife is insufferable and has an attitude that makes me want to skip her roles. Can there be a female character who is actually likable and doesn’t just act like a sexualized idiot?

Lellouch did really great with this movie, one of the best scenarios and movies of the year. Picture, music, image all else the movie is a great memory of the 80s and 90s.
I was a bit afraid of Exarchopoulos as usually I don’t really like her but she does pretty well on her scenes which are pretty made for her. Chabat is obviously great as the GOAT he is, I remind me of Didier at the start for thise who knows, you’ll know.

From the subtle yet highly effective and powerful sound design and score. Not to mention the stunning cinematography, every frame explodes to life before your eyes. I can’t speak highly enough of Brady Corbet and his vision here. As an original screenplay, it’s truly a testament to how the film industry should be run. The Brutalist is a grounded story that takes you to places emotionally I wasn’t prepared to go.
Such a deep and powerful story. I’m glad this movie is 3 hours and 35 minutes long because it has earned the right to take its time telling the story. And that’s 3 and a half hours of pure cinematic experience. I sat there for every scene in pure amazement. That’s how you make a movie.
It’s all there for the taking, the crying and screaming scenes, the subtle moments and gestures, the looks in his eyes. So much range in one movie I don’t think I’ve seen a performance at this level in a while. Guy Pearce is totally stunning, at times terrifyingly terrifying. Felicity Jones comes into the story later than I imagined but manages to hold her head high, she’s a real beauty to behold. In short, The Brutalist is a 3.5-hour spectacle that has earned its place in the world of cinema and then some.
Brady Corbet is a visionary genius and I look forward to seeing more of his work. The Brutalist = 9.8/10.
