After 20 years away, Odysseus (Ralph Fiennes) washes up on the shores of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The King has returned from the Trojan War, but much has changed in his kingdom. CIA operative Joe attempts to balance her personal and professional lives as the tip of the spear in the agency’s war on terror.. Real life military advisors helped in producing a more authentic execution of gun handling, house clearing, positioning, squad -based activity, etc… Referenced in Premios Soberano (2024). Why, why do they always insist on having one teen character who is continuously angry and acts irrationally? It has *never* done any TV show any good. Zoe Saldana’s daughter is full-on stereotype, all the sorry-arse angry teenager tropes bundled in one character. One minute you are watching a show about secret operatives in the Middle East, the next you are subjected to never-ending scenes of family turmoil caused by one selfish teenager that *no one in the world cares about*.My advice: fast forward all the scenes where she appears. They add absolutely nothing – zip – nothing – zilch to the storyline. Skipping them will do wonders for your blood pressure.

Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theater group alongside other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art.. At the beginning of the movie the cast are trying out for various parts in the play.
The group is criticized for not doing comedy yet their previous play was A Midsummer Night's Dream which is a comedy.. Featured in Late Night with Seth Meyers: Anna Faris/ Colman Domingo/Jose Medeles (2024).
Strikes the right tone and pacing between the gritty reality and the human potential for good. Very little to improve in this film.
The only reason I don't rate it a 10 is that I have no direct experience with prisons and can't confirm its accuracy about life there. Everything that is visible in the film is handled well. Also an important film in that it shows the consequences of mediocre parole boards and injustices in sentencing.
Leonard Fife, one of sixty thousand draft evaders and deserters who fled to Canada to avoid serving in Vietnam, shares all his secrets to de-mythologize his mythologized life. This marks the second time that Paul Schrader has directed one of Banks' novels for the screen, following his adaptation of Affliction (1997)..
Referenced in Film Junk Podcast: Episode 961: In a Violent Nature + TIFF 2024 (2024). I watched this at Cannes, at the film's premiere.OH, CANADA is a highly original film by one of the masters of cinema, a real work of art.
The acting is strong, especially Richard Gere who plays the protagonist. He gives a terrific and memorable performance in the vein of Jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES- a complicated, not always likable but compelling character.
Recommended.
