After the pope’s death, his ring (called the Fisherman’s Ring) is removed and destroyed
Story
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world’s most secretive and long-running events, the selection of a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundations of the Catholic Church. The actions taken by Cardinal Lawrence and the rest of the cardinals during the film’s conclave process are true to the Catholic faith and centuries of tradition. The Vatican officially announces that the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) is vacant.
Ayendi is said to be the first African pope
The papal apartment is closed with a crimson ribbon and sealed with a papal wax seal. The College of Cardinals is sequestered in apartments (called the Domus Sanctae Marthae or House of Saint Martha) to eat and sleep between votes. The windows and doors of the Sistine Chapel, where elections are held and ballots are cast, are darkened, closed and locked to maintain the secrecy of the conclave.

This is perhaps the best film I have seen this year and I have seen quite a few
It is a serious film, perhaps the only serious film I have seen this year and it can be considered an adult film as most of the many details in this film will not be picked up by a younger audience. There were only adults at the opening day matinee and it was the most crowded matinee I have attended so far this year. The film has great colour, detail, sets, writing and plot with several twists and turns thrown in for good measure.
It has a great cast and very good actors
I don’t really consider it a mystery as I understood the plot from the start but it is presented very well. Overall, this is an excellent movie and I plan to watch it again.
